For years, Jews and Chinese Restaurant owners have come together on Dec. 25 to celebrate food, family, and fellowship in the midst of what is otherwise an eerily abandoned ghost town. It’s nice to see that this place really appreciates that relationship — even if they seem to be under the impression that chicken lo mein is mandated in the Torah.
Chinese restaurant sign offers long-overdue thank you to Jews.
This is sweet.
heee :3
oh my god dying
Jewish Christmas is the one time of the year where my cultural identity mishmash meets somewhere in the middle. Jewish culture, movie fanaticism, Chinese culture, with a hint of WASPiness being pushed to the backburner
Growing up in Montgomery County Maryland, my upbringing was surrounded by Jewish culture. I wasn’t a regular participant at my conservative friends’ friday night dinners. I was never baptized. I only know like three words in Hebrew. But I did accumulate an impressive collection of yamakas by my mid teens. And when I was like 8 I asked my parents if I could convert. They said no.
Hey Dan, remember when that old Jewish woman at Bagel City in Rockville thought we were both Jewish? With her big red hair and thick black spectacles she waddled over to our table, leaned in, and said, “It’s so good to see a couple of nice Jewish boys at a Jew-owned establishment like this.”
Hey almost everyone I went to high school with…remember when you thought I was Jewish for years, probably because I was the only kid in our school with a beard?
Anyway, I have secretly been waiting for the first Christmas I spend away from my family, so I can eat Chinese food and watch movies with my friends. Looks like another gentile love fest this year.
I love you, James.
All of the awards!
hahahha omg hahahhahaaha
Related to MoCo, kids used to thank me in elementary school for being Jewish, since we got off for the high holidays....
love you, James.
